Sometimes an hour is enough to help us pause.

Sometimes we need a little longer.

Join me at the beautiful Let's Retreat for a slower evening of rest, gentle connection and immersive gong sound. Beginning in the peaceful warmth of the yurt, we'll pause midway to gather around the outdoor fire with a warming drink and light refreshments before returning to the yurt for a second sound journey as darkness settles around us.

Thoughtfully designed to give your body and mind the time they often don't receive in everyday life, this is an opportunity not only to unwind, but to rest, connect and return to yourself.

Rest

We'll begin the evening with a restorative 60-minute gong sound bath, allowing the sounds and vibrations to gently quieten the nervous system and invite your body into rest.

An opportunity to let go of the outside world for a while, soften into the present moment, and simply arrive.

Rest. Connect. Return.

An Evening Gong Retreat

Date, Time and Location

Friday 18th September

6 -8:30pm

Let’s Retreat, Decoy Lane, Angmering, BN18 9QA - Parking and toilets are available on site.

What to Bring

To help you settle in and get the most from your evening, I recommend bringing:

  • Cosy layers, blankets and cushions – anything that helps you feel comfortable and supported. Even on warmer evenings, our bodies naturally cool as we relax, so having an extra layer is always worthwhile.

  • Something comfortable to lie or sit on. You'll be resting for around 60 minutes during each gong journey, so comfort really is key. A yoga mat is a great starting point, but you may prefer to bring extra padding, a thicker mat, an airbed, folding recliner or even a sun lounger. If lying down isn't comfortable for you, you're very welcome to bring a camping or folding chair instead.

  • An eye mask if you enjoy using one, to help you settle more deeply into the experience.

  • Water to enjoy after the gong journey.

  • A hot water bottle if you'd like to stay extra cosy as darkness falls and the evening air begins to cool.

  • Your favourite mug. It might seem like a small thing, but there's something rather lovely about wrapping your hands around a familiar mug as we gather around the fire. I'll provide a selection of warming drinks and a light snack, creating space to gently integrate the gong sound journey and enjoy being together.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and the ground conditions. If the forecast isn't on our side, don't worry, we'll simply move into the warmth and shelter of the yurt for the entire event.

If you need any additional consideration to fully take part, please let Lydia know - your comfort and inclusion are important.

Important notice

Taking part in gong baths is generally considered safe for most people, regardless of age or fitness level. However, considerations should be taken for the following people:

  • Mental health conditions - People with severe mental health conditions, such as paranoid schizophrenia, severe personality disorder, or psychosis, should not participate in gong baths. If you have PTSD or trauma that may need to be considered, please also make contact so that we can discuss any further support needed.

  • Pregnancy - Individuals who are pregnant in the first trimester should not participate in gong baths. Caution should also be taken during other trimesters as studies have not been undertaken on pregnant women. If you are pregnant and want to participate, please talk with a healthcare professional to make sure they’re a safe option for you and then let me know of any considerations that need to be followed.

  • Epilepsy or seizures - People with epilepsy or a history of seizures should not participate in gong baths.

  • Hearing impairments - People with hearing impairments may still be able to participate in a gong bath, but the experience may not be comfortable. Caution should be taken with tinnitus. However, by sitting further away from the Gongs and wearing ear plugs, the vibrations may still be felt and the experience enjoyed. It is advised that hearing aids are removed as the higher pitched tones can interfere.

  • Sensitivity to sound - People who are sensitive to sound including individuals with Ménière’s disease may experience discomfort or agitation during a gong bath. Caution is advised. Please talk with a healthcare professional to make sure they’re a safe option for you and then let me know of any considerations that need to be followed.

  • Metal implants - Caution should be taken by people with metal devices in their body, such as a pacemaker, coronary shunt, artificial heart valves, or metal pins or staples as discomfort may be experienced. It is recommended that it be a minimum of 12 weeks post surgery and that if you are concerned or are unsure whether you should attend that medical advice be sought. During a group Gong session, the vibrations are not directed at specific body locations and so the impact will be indirect, however discomfort could still be experienced. It is recommended to sit further away from the Gongs initially.

Ultimately, individuals should listen to their bodies and consult with their healthcare provider if they have any concerns or underlying health condition before participating in a Gong bath.

Connect

After our first gong sound journey, we'll gather around the fire outside (weather permitting) with a warming drink and light refreshments.

This is time to reconnect - with yourself, with nature, and with others if that feels right. There'll be no expectation to talk or share. You might find yourself quietly watching the flames, breathing in the evening air, enjoying gentle conversation, or simply noticing the stillness around you. Sometimes connection comes through words. Sometimes it comes simply through being.

If the weather doesn't allow us to gather outside, we'll bring that same sense of warmth and connection indoors around the log fire.

Return

As the evening deepens, we'll return to the warmth of the yurt for our second gong sound bath.

Having had time to rest, connect and simply be, many people find they settle even more deeply into this second sound journey. It's an opportunity to return to yourself - carrying a little more calm, spaciousness and ease than when the evening began.
